With the advent of 3D laser scanning technology, the construction industry now widely and increasingly uses this approach to create as-built 3D CAD or building information models (BIM) of existing facilities and new construction. The creation of intelligent 3D models enables the various stakeholders to visualize the assets in a cost-effective and timely manner. Complete asset information is captured in the form of millions of points, and this point cloud data is further processed to develop the 3D models or CAD drawings, as per the requirements.
